Superior Drummer not recording

MessageAuthor

I hope this isn't too confusing. I have Superior Drummer 2 mapped to my Korg PadKontrol and it records fine when I hit the pads, but.. When I play a Groove within SD or mouse click on the drums (recording is armed), it acts like it records but doesn't. If I click on the virtual keyboard within Reaper it records, but when I click on the virtual keyboard within SD, I can hear it, but it doesn't record. In all cases, the meters jump. I'm sure I'm just missing a midi map setting somewhere, but I can't find it. My track is set to MIDI: ALL: All Channels, All MIDI Inputs is set to All Channels and Map input to channel is set to Source channel. I switched these settings around and still can't seem to get the SD to record grooves by itself or with the mouse. Again, works fine with PadKontol and Reapers Virt. keyboard, but that's all. I disconnected the padKontol to no avail. Any help is appreciated. It worked before, I just don't know what I changed when I mapped the drums to the Kontol.

RE: Superior Drummer not recording

Hello Jovhato and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. With your Record settings, you are recording the MIDI Input to the track - that is the MIDI notes from your PadKontrol or from the Reaper Virtual MIDI Keyboard. When you play a Groove within SD or mouse click on the drums or on SD's virtual keyboard then there is no MIDI Input to the track, so nothing will get recorded. The drums audio will be output on the track. You can record that audio by selecting "Record Output (stereo)". If SD outputs the MIDI notes for the drum hits, then you can record by selecting "Record Output (MIDI)". HTH

Great, Thanks! It's now working. I clicked on the small icon on the track to the right of Rocording Monitoring, (Record: input), clicked on Record Output and set it to stereo and it's working. I repeated the steps in my reply incase I forget in the future and have to come back to look it up again. Thanks again for your help!

You're welcome. :) When you have got it working the way you want, save the track(s) as a track Template so you can load the template into other projects.
