I have purchased an infinitely variable wiper relay which I tried to fit today. As it is a straight replacement for the standard Volvo wiper delay relay I thought it would take about 5 minutes to pop it in. When I got myself settled into a reasonable upside-down position I could see some of the relays but, to my dismay, realised they were only the bottom row of relays. With a bit of wiggling I could actually touch some of them, but I had no hope of getting anywhere near the top row where the new relay will be located. So, what do I do? Do I pull the relays out from the top? Do I have to dismantle half the equipment sitting above the driver's knees to expose the relay I want to replace? Has anyone else changed the normal wiper delay relay to the infinitely variable type I'm talking about? I'd appreciate some advice or ideas.:lightbulb:

Hiya, I know what you're talking about :-) In the end I carefully removed relays below the one I needed to change, writing on them with pencil and marking them on a diagram. Finally I got enough out that I could access the wiper relay one. Then a slow case of putting the others back in reverse order, following the diagram. HTH, Pete

The whole fusebox and relay holder unit unit is as one. It is held in situ with 4 screws from the engine side and if I remember correctly and can be part lifted up into the engine compartment, but not all the way way which is annoying but may give you a bit more room if angled.
Hiya, well done. Can I ask where yours was from? I didn't make it clear in my original post that the one I got (off eBay) didn't work properly when fitted. I removed it, replaced the old one and the seller sent me a replacement but I've not got around to trying the replacement. Was yours eBay, and was it an aftermarket one or off a Volkswagen or Audi maybe? Cheers, Pete

How do you vary the interval because I was under the impression you would need to have some form of switch which you would turn in order to either increase or decrease the number of sweaps made in a given time?
