Has anyone used an Icon Qcon controller? Better yet, has anyone used one with REAPER on OSX? Has anyone used a bcf2000 on OSX? I'm feeling in dire need of some motorised faders ... mixing with my mouse makes me sad :-( cheers
Hi ! I'm lucky, I've had one since December ;o) And I quite like it ! See here Unfortunately, not tested with Reaper but it emulates an MCU very well and might work as good as the real one in Reaper. Cheers Jay
Yeah I read that review a couple of days ago :) Do you run osx by any chance? I don't think I've come across any positive anecdotes from osx users with Reaper and control surfaces. You couldn't possibly try it on Reaper could you? The 3rd party MCU plug-in people use here is windows only :)
Hello ! Sorry, no ! Nothing against MacOS and Apple but I've built all my computers since 1993 and can't afford a Mac. The QCon is class compliant so, as far as MacOS is concerned it should work. But, for firmware upgrades, you may have difficulties as the utility for this is for Windows (once again). Pertaining Reaper, I did try it some time ago (hence my registering here) but have been a long time Cubase user, like it and know it almost by heart (wrote a book on Cubase in 2003, actually). I'll ask people at iCON in Hong Kong if they have or could try the QCon with Reaper on MacOS. Cheers. Jay
Hi ! Here is the answer from my contact at iCON : ************************************************** ***************** Hi Jerome, We tried Qcon on Reaper Mac and Windows, by selecting "Nuendo" mode at Qcon, you would able to control majority functions of Reaper especially the main functions. Unfortunately, as Atmel still have not release the firmware program for Mac, it is not possible to upgrade Qcon on Mac at this moment. Thank you very much Chris ************************************************** ******************** Cheers Jay

Hi there, since beginning of this week, I own the Qcon as well and use it in Cubase mode. It works quite well, whereas some of the functions are not working like intended - mainly the "edit" function right hand. Nebvertheless, with some set up (hey, it's all midi), it is working like a charm. You can define your own actions per button, so a lot of workflow supporting actions are possible.

Hi ! Don't forget to upgrade the firmware to 1.03 as it solves a problem with the faders being noisy when reaching their 0 position. Be aware, though, that upgrading the firmware can only be done under Win XP as of today (upgrade program doesn't seem to work under Win 7 x64 and there is no MacOS one). Cheers. Jay

I use the bcf2000 in osx. Works just the same as on windows. I set it up from a windows laptop though, I think BC manager (Mountain Utitilites) is windows only
